Jul 2019

Join us in the pub for a special Canada Day evening of tunes for KitchenFest! with Darrell Keigan & Chloe Steele & Rachel Campbell. 8pm start $10 cover at the door (19+)

-With a deep love and respect for the music he performs, as well as a keen interest in history, Darrell creates a show that involves his audience. From local songs and stories, to those taken from Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton history; whether playing to a packed hall, or sitting in a living room with lots of friends, Darrell’s love of music and people is instantly evident!!

-As part of a special union project, joining one village of Boisdale to another across the Atlantic, Chloe and Rachel are visiting and presenting their talents in this brilliant, creative exchange. Chloe Steele and Rachel Campbell were born and bred on South Uist, one of the islands that make up the archipelago of The Hebrides. They have been constantly surrounded by music and Gaelic since they were very young. Chloe attended the only High School in the Uist islands, Sgoil Lionacleit, between 2010 and 2015. She moved to the mainland for her final year of High School education after being accepted to the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music at Plockton High School, to study Bagpipes and Gaelic Song. Chloe first picked up the Bagpipes over twelve years ago, under the tuition of Domhnall ‘Ban’ MacDonald. Her passion and commitment for the instrument is shown in her many public performances and her own compositions. Until her year at the NCETM in Plockton, Chloe sung in her local church and in various group projects. She made her first steps as a solo artist when she moved to Plockton and it now takes up a large part of her vast repertoire from complex love songs to singalong ceilidh songs. She is currently in her third year of the BA (Hons) music course run by Lews Castle College at the Benbecula UHI campus. Rachel Campbell is the other half of this fabulous duo. She plays the accordian and keyboard.
